Overview
Read Only Text is text the technician reads but does not answer - instructions on the phone, or fixed wording such as a declaration on the report. You choose where it appears.
Step by step: add instruction text
- Select the section, and click Read Only Text under + Add Fields.
- Drag it by its handle to sit above the questions it explains.
- Type the text in Heading.
- Set Display on form and Display in report.
Its own settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Display on form | Show it on the phone |
| Display in report | Print it on the report |
| Header Bold | Print the text bold |
Two common uses
- Guidance for the technician - “Test each circuit at the board and record the lowest reading.” Turn off Display in report so it does not appear on the customer’s copy.
- Fixed wording on the report - a declaration above a signature, or terms. Turn off Display on form if the technician does not need to read it every time.
Tips
- Keep phone guidance short. One or two lines above the questions they apply to is read; a paragraph at the top of the form is not.
- For a picture instead of words, use Display Image.
