Open a file attached to the job
Plans, photos and PDFs the office attached to the job, and how to open one on site.
Anything the office attached to the job in your accounting system - a site plan, a compliance certificate, a photo of the switchboard, a PDF of the customer’s order - comes through to the job on your phone. You can open it on site without ringing the office for a copy.
Where they are
Open the job and scroll down. Depending on what the job has, you will see:
- Image Attachments - photos, shown as pictures you can tap to enlarge.
- Job Attachments - everything else, one pill per file, labelled with its filename. Tap one and it opens in a new tab, the same as opening it on a computer.
A job with no files attached shows neither section, so there is nothing to look for.
Your office decides whether images also appear on the job’s first tab. If you can see the photos without scrolling on one job and not on another, that is the setting, not a fault.
Files attached to the job in Infusion Online come through with the job itself, so they are there as soon as the job is.
How Elite files reach your phone
Infusion Elite keeps its files on your office server, so they travel a little differently.
The job arrives carrying the names of the files linked to it, which is why you can see what a job has without waiting for anything to download. The file itself is only fetched the first time somebody opens it - it comes from your office server, through Tradie, to your phone, and is kept ready so the next person who opens it gets it straight away.
Two things follow from that:
- The first open needs coverage. Tapping a file you have not opened before has to reach your office server. Opening one somebody already opened is quick.
- The original never moves. What you open is a copy; the file itself stays on your office server exactly where the office put it.
If you know you are heading somewhere without coverage, open the files you will need while you still have signal. They stay available once they have come through.
Tips
- Tap a photo to enlarge it - useful for reading a serial number or a label in a picture.
- Attachments are read-only here. To add something, take a photo against the job or use the form the office set up for it.
Troubleshooting
- A file the office says is there is missing. The list comes from the job in your accounting system. If it is not on the job there, it will not be here - ask the office to attach it to the job rather than email it.
- A file will not open. Your phone needs an app that can open that kind of file. A PDF or an image will be fine; an unusual file type may not be.
- Nothing downloads. The connector at your office has to be running for a file to come through the first time. If every file fails rather than just one, that is the likely cause - tell the office.
