Navigation & moving between screens

How to open a screen, get back to the one before, and reach Settings.

Overview

Tradie Mobile works from one hub. You open screens from the home screen, go back with the arrow at the top left, and reach Settings from the top right.

Opening a screen

Tap a button on the home screen. There is no tab bar or side menu on the classic layout; the home screen is where every journey starts.

On the Dashboard layout, the favourites grid gives you shortcuts, and the menu button at the top right lists every screen you can open.

Going back

Most screens have a back arrow at the top left. It takes you to the screen you came from, which is usually the home screen. A few go one step up instead:

  • From a job, back goes to the jobs list you opened it from.
  • From the customer record, back goes to the customer list.

The top right

  • Classic layout - the gear opens Settings.
  • Dashboard layout - the menu button opens a panel listing every screen, with Settings and Logout at the bottom.

Refreshing a list

Jobs and lists update by themselves while you are online. On the job lists you will see Checking for updates… while that happens. There is no pull-to-refresh.

If one list looks out of date, tap the title of any screen. A Data Lists panel opens with an Update button beside each list the phone keeps, such as jobs, products and customers. Tap the one you need.

Tip

The same lists, with how long ago each was updated, are under Manage Cache in Settings.

Job tabs

A job has three tabs across the top: Info, Create and Close. Your company may have renamed them. See Job detail.

Offline

Moving between screens works the same without signal, using what the phone already holds. Screens that have to ask the office, such as a customer’s job history or a reference document, say so and wait for a connection. See Working offline.
