Allocations & bookings
How a job gets booked onto the calendar as an allocation.
An allocation is what Tradie calls a booking - the coloured block that ties a job to a team member (or a piece of equipment) at a specific time on the calendar.
What an allocation is
A job can have zero, one, or several allocations. No allocations yet means the job still shows up under Pending in the jobs list. The moment it gets its first allocation, it moves to Progress - see Jobs: Pending, Progress, Admin.
A job can be booked more than once - for example, split across two team members, or booked again on a later date if the first visit didn’t finish the work.
Creating an allocation
There are two ways to book a job:
- Drag it - drag the job straight from the jobs list onto a team member’s row on the calendar. See Book a job to a team member.
- Use the Create Booking dialog - type or pick a job code, choose the staff and equipment, and set a start/end time without touching the calendar directly.
Changing an allocation
Once booked, drag a booking to move it to a different time or team member, or drag its edge to resize it - see Change a booking’s duration. Right-click a booking for more options: send a text reminder, toggle its time promise, add or edit a note, add a timesheet entry for the time booked, unassign it, or delete its future allocations (useful for recurring jobs you no longer want booked ahead).
